"As I listened on my car radio to the business news station program, 'Marketplace,'
they were running a report on the San Diego Padres baseball team and their outstanding
attendance figures — despite a dismal record. The reporter asked a former University
of San Diego professor for his insight as to how the ball club was able to maintain
such a loyal fan base. To my surprise, Dr. Tom Buckles was the marketing expert
they chose for commentary. Needless to say, I felt an overwhelming sense of
pride knowing that Dr. Buckles is part of the Biola MBA faculty.
