Aaron Kleist![]() Raised in on the island of Saipan, as well as in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Dr. Aaron Kleist pursued a Master's in Comparative Literature in the (equally-exotic) climes of Indiana University before receiving his Ph.D. in Old English Literature from the University of Cambridge. Since joining the department in 2001, he has taught such dubious courses as “Castles, Kings, and Conquest,” “The Rose and the Sword: Legends of King Arthur,” and “Knights, Troubadours, and Damsels in Distress,” as well as Chaucer, Medieval Literature, Old and Middle English, Beowulf, and a variety of courses on Shakespeare. He fences sabre, rides a motorcycle, and is married to the woman of his dreams. ![]() Current Courses Introduction to Shakespeare Courses Taught English Literature to 1798 World Literature Castles, Kings, and Conquest Medieval Literature: Arthurian Literature Medieval Literature: Knights, Troubadours, and Damsels in Distress Old and Middle English Literature Film and Literature Introduction to Shakespeare Introduction to Shakespeare: Wars of the Roses Introduction to Shakespeare: Shakespeare in Script, Stage, and Screen Special Studies in Shakespeare: Hamlet Studies in Major Authors: Beowulf Studies in Major Authors: Chaucer The Rose and the Sword: Legends of King Arthur Sample Syllabi 1.
