A native Californian, Todd Pickett has taught in the English Department at Biola since 1996. His early degrees were in Greek and Latin (Classics) first at Stanford University (B.A. 1983) and then at Trinity College, Dublin (M.A. 1986). There, he began spending more time reading Joyce in coffee houses than translating classics in the library, and so began the slippery slope to English literary studies. After returning to the states, he taught literature, the Bible, and Latin at St. Margaret’s School in San Juan Capistrano, CA. After three years of teaching (and a brief stint as an interim pastor), he began the Ph.D. program in English at the University of California, Irvine (completed 1996). Here at Biola, he teaches in the British literature track, teaching Victorian literature and studies in Dostoevsky. He currently serves as Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences. He is married to Dottie Cox, and they have two girls, Carly and Abbey.
