National News Seminar
New York and Washington D.C.
One of Biola's newest journalism course offerings, this trip gives students a behind-the-scenes look at major media outlets in New York City and Washington, D.C.
College Media Advisors / Associated Collegiate Press (CMA / ACP) Conference
CMA/ACP's yearly conference offers hundreds of workshops covering various topics within the field of journalism, designed especially for staff members of student media.
ACCM (Association of Christian College Media)
Headquartered at Biola University, this organization sponsors an annual national contest in which students compete for awards in newspaper, TV, radio and Web media production. Beginning in 2008, ACCM will also offer student media leadership workshops to be held regionally.
Christians in Photojournalism (CIP)
Christians in Photojournalism co-sponsors a yearly conference for professional photojournalists and students aspiring to enter the profession. Students from Biola's visual journalism emphasis attend this conference as part of a class on the Business of Visual Journalism.
International Photojournalism
Students will travel with photojournalists to cover stories visually on a four day trip into Mexico. Students will select, edit and compile images into visual stories to be shown during the latter part of the semester.
Journalism Boot Camp
Biola journalism students plan this yearly intensive journalism training event for high school students interested in the field. High school juniors and seniors participate in workshops led by industry professionals, interact with current Biola journalism students and compete in news writing contests.
Media Conference
The Biola Media Conference offers a day of education, inspiration and networking. Students learn from and interact with top industry in film, broadcast, public relations and journalism.
