National News Seminar
One of the newest of Biola's journalism course offerings, the National News Seminar gives students an behind-the-scenes look at major media outlets in New York City and Washington, D.C. Students spend several days in each city, touring places such as the AP, the New York Daily News and MSNBC headquarters. During the New York segment of the 2007 trip, students interacted with PBS' television host Bill Moyers, Dateline NBC host Chris Hansen, MSNBC producer Alice Rhee and more.
In Washington, D.C., students toured the Pentagon and sat in on a press conference with several military officials, had an exclusive meeting with South Dakota senator and Biola alumnus John Thune, toured the offices of The Washington Post and attended an editorial meeting of the Smithsonian Institution magazine.
There was time for sightseeing as well; students visited the Empire State Building, Times Square, the White House, the Washington Monument, and many other landmarks.
