Biola's Service-Focused Spanish Minor
A minor in Spanish requires a minimum of 18 units. One approved program-related service learning project is required.
Required courses:
- HUFS210: Applied Spanish (3 units) or
- HUFS220: Spanish for Spanish Speakers (3 units)
- HUFS315: Spanish Conversation and Composition (3 units)
- HUFS320: Spanish Conversation, Grammar and Composition (3 units)
Service project required.
- HUFS410: Spanish American Literature (3 units)
- HUFS440: Advanced Applications (3 units)
Fieldwork required.
Elective courses (one or more)
- HUFS420: Spanish Literature (3 units)
May be taken concurrently with HUFS 320.
- HUFS450: Faith, Life, and Culture in Latin America (3 units)
Field work required.
- HIST312: History of Latin America (3 units)
- INCS332: Peoples of the World (Latin America only) (3 units)
Sequence of prerequisites:
- HUFS210 or 220 serve as prerequisites for HUFS315 and 320.
- HUFS315 and 320 serve as prerequisites for HUFS410, 420, and 430.
- Any two of HUFS410, 420, or 430 are required for HUFS460.
- HUFS 420 and 430 are required for HUFS465.
- HUFS440 is required for HUFS490.
- HUFS490 normally requires senior standing or special permission.
- Special arrangements or cases should be discussed with the department chair.
