The mission of the Conservatory Voice Department is to enable
every voice major to develop his/her talent as far as possible
in four years, in order that they can achieve their goals, whether
it be to enter graduate school, perform, teach, conduct, or lead
worship. Our voice teachers seek to teach a healthy vocal technique
that will enhance the students' God given gifts. The conservatory
provides numerous vocal performance outlets through choral ensembles,
opera, and performances with the orchestra. Recent alumni are currently
in some of the finest graduate schools in the country, including
Eastman, Manhattan, Peabody, and the fletcher Opera Program. Alumnus
Earle Patriarco (1989) sings regularly with the Metropolitan Opera,
and Katie Van Kooten (2001) recently made her international debut
at the royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London. Other alumni
head major high school music programs, and still others are teaching
on the university level.
