 Dr.
Barry Liesch, in addition to being a composer and arranger, is
a noted author on the subject of Church Music. His ten published
books include: The New Worship Keyboardist series; Straight Talk
on Music and the Church (Baker Book House), and People in the Presence
of God: Models and Directions for Worship (Zondervan). He also
has three books in process, including one co-authored with Dr.
John Browning, called Improvising with Impact: A Practical
Guide for Worship Musicians, Vols I & II.
A sought after guest lecturer, he has appeared at universities
such as Baylor University (Waco, TX), Hope University (Fullerton,
CA), and Acts Seminary at Trinity Western University (Langley,
BC). His writings have also appeared in important ministry journals,
such as Leadership, Music Line, and Psychology and Theology. He
can also be heard performing original arrangements on the CD "Moments
with You."
Dr. Liesch received his Ph. D. in music from the University of
California, San Diego, his M.A. in music composition from the State
University of New York at Binghamton, and his B.M. from the University
of British Columbia. Besides teaching improvisation and theory,
Dr. Liesch is Area Coordinator for the Music in Worship major.
