Performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center are known in
musical circles as some of the most respected of professional achievements. We
are pleased to report that the Conservatory
will have been well represented at both of these venues.
Piano
Area Coordinator, Dr.
Li-shan
Hung, played in Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall
for the second time. The performance was brilliant and
included pieces by Stravinsky, Schubert, Franck, and Perle. In
attendance were several Biola alumni and current students, as
well as Biola faculty and administrators who made the trip for
the event. Following that performance, Dr. Hung traveled
to Illinois to play another recital and to teach at the Maud
Powell Summer Institute. Also this year, she performed
in the National Recital Hall in her home country of Taiwan to
a sold-out audience.
Adjunct
trumpet faculty member, David Washburn, played
the Brandenburg Concerto at Lincoln Center with the Lincoln Center
Chamber Music Society. He reported that he enjoyed performing
in Tully Auditorium, and was pleased to represent Biola as
well. David has also played on many motion picture soundtracks,
including War of the Worlds,
with John Williams.
