Neil Argo with students
A new dimension has been added to the Conservatory’s music technology studio.
Under the direction of part-time composition faculty member, Neil Argo, the facility
has been upgraded to become a comprehensive recording studio. Upgrades include
the addition of a 24-track digital mixing board, additional hardware and software
components, and artist-quality Neumann microphones. The studio is now capable
of recording sessions in the choral and instrumental rehearsal rooms and Lansing
Recital Hall, allowing for the recording of ensemble performances and rehearsals.
Dr. Boespflug commented on the new technology: “The new
recording capabilities will allow ensemble directors to expose
students to the exacting rigor of recording sessions, provide our
composition majors with the opportunity to record original works
combining acoustic and digital elements, and will serve as a means
for students to create first class demos and audition recordings
for graduate school. Moreover, all students will have opportunity
to be exposed to the technology through the music technology course
required of all music majors.”
