DR. ROBERT DENHAM JOINS COMPOSITION FACULTY

Dr. Robert Denham joins the faculty as Assistant Professor of Composition, and as Area Coordinator for Composition. Dr. Denham is a native of the San Francisco Bay area and a Biola alumnus, earning a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance in 1997. He holds a DMA in Composition from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where he studied with Michael Fiday, Joel Hoffman and Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon; and holds a MA in Composition from UCLA where he studied with Roger Bourland, Ian Krouse, and the late Jerry Goldsmith. Robert comes to Biola from West Texas A&M University where he taught theory and composition. His works have been performed by the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music Philharmonia, the Los Angeles Flute Quartet, the Orion Saxophone Quartet, and the Academia Musicale di San Casciano Orchestra e Coro di bambini (Florence, Italy). His compositions have won numerous competitions, including the Havar International Competition (Croatia), the Gluck Brass Quintet Composition Competition, and he was a 1998 recipient of the Stanley Wilson Composer’s Award. His works are published by Falls House Press, Imagine Music Publishing, Pelican Music Publishing, and Tuba Euphonium Press. He is married to Jolene (Rowland), a Biola alumna (1999), and has two young children.

  Robert Denham's compositions have won numerous competitions, including the Havar International Competition (Croatia) and the Gluck Brass Quintet Composition Competition.
