Biola University is accepting applications for a professor in Spanish or comparative literature in the Department of Modern Languages to begin fall 2010. PhD preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. Duties include teaching lower-division language courses as well as upper-division courses in Spanish language, literature and civilization. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly activity, and potential to make significant contributions to their scholarly fields. Must be able to work effectively as a team member within the department. Must have excellent language skills in Spanish and English and have an interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. Preference will be given to those with a high level of competence in another modern language. Course load is 12 units per semester.

In addition to teaching, the faculty member is required to participate in academic advising, campus committees, curriculum development, research, and community outreach. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Ethnic and gender diversity desired.
