Giving to the Library
The Biola University Library welcomes in-kind donations of books, media and other publications, as well as designated or undesignated monetary contributions for materials or equipment that enhance the library's collection. Scholarly materials are always encouraged. We evaluate gift materials by the same standards as purchased materials, and we add only those materials which are appropriate for our collection. Therefore, the library reserves the right to accept or decline any gift and may dispose of gift items at its discretion. In this regard, the library may not return unselected items to donors.
What the Library needs
- Hardback and quality paperback books in good condition that support the curriculum of Biola
- Educational DVDs in good condition
What we do not need
- Damaged or heavily underlined books
- Commonly collected, incomplete or short runs of academic journals
- Old textbooks
Please do not bring in-kind donations to the library without prior approval from the library dean. Potential donors should provide, in advance, a list or description of the gift, so the gift's potential value to the Library may be determined. In cases in which the gift involves five or fewer items or monetary donations, the potential gift may be evaluated by the dean over the telephone or e-mail without written description.
Please direct questions regarding donations to the dean of Library and Media Services, (562) 944-0351, ext. 5605 or by e-mail (rodney.vliet at biola.edu).
