President Writes Article for Christian Examiner

Biola University President Barry H. Corey writes the first of his new quarterly column.

Biola’s President, Barry H. Corey, is a guest columnist for the Christian Examiner. His first column titled, “Even in famine we can live confidently through Christ,” was published in the current September 2008 edition.

“So, what is God’s antidote to our uncertainties? As irrational as this might sound, we need to approach uncertainties not by being certain, but by being confident,” said Biola University President Barry H. Corey in his new column. “There’s a big difference. Confidence comes from the Latin con = with and fides = faith.”

Corey agreed to write a quarterly column for the Christian Examiner because of their outreach to local Christian communities. “I found it is a great platform for me to reach out to fellow Christians and encourage and be encouraged as the body of Christ,” said Corey.

In this month’s column he highlights his path of “pulling up his stakes” to move his “tent” to Biola from Boston. Drawing examples from the lives of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, he compared their uncertainties with his own.

Corey encourages readers to live by faith, not by sight.

“Life is in tents, and we live by faith, not sight,” wrote Corey.

The Christian Examiner is a free monthly newspaper that seeks “to report newsworthy religious events and activities within the local Christian community, nationwide and around the world,” according to their website.
