An enthusiastic audience of over 900 pastors, lay-leaders, youth, and children, enjoyed worship, plenary messages, workshops and other special programs, at the 30th Biola Hispanic Conference, on March 28th. Sponsored by Biola and Talbot School of Theology, the conference is for Spanish-speaking evangelicals from the greater southern California region, as well as English-speaking youth from these same churches. Participants came from as far as Tracy, San Diego, and Palm Desert.

Rev. Daniel Catarisano, U.S. Director of Hispanic Ministries with Focus on the Family, Colorado Springs, Colorado, spoke on the theme “Strong Marriages: the foundation of the family.”

A special highlight of the Conference was the presentation of awards of recognition to the four visionary men who founded the conference 30 years ago and were the early driving force behind its continuation: George Moore, once the Director of Ethnic Ministries at Biola, Alex Montoya, pastor of First Fundamental Bible Church in Monterey Park, Ruben Martinez, serving with Follow Up Ministries of Castro Valley, CA, and current Conference organizing committee member and Hispanic Christian educator, Dr. Rodelo Wilson. These four were presented with special, framed certificates for the occasion.

Conferees packed many workshop venues to overflowing to hear practical teaching on topics related to the conference theme of strong marriages.

Representatives from Biola’s Admissions Office presented Biola educational programs to conference attendees. Representatives from Child Evangelism Fellowship, Lifeway Español Christian Booksellers, Focus on the Family, Grace Wear Christian clothing, and other organizations, displayed their services and products in the Buss Courtyard.
