Announcements and Calendar Events

In the Faculty Resource Section you will find a memo from Dr. Gary Miller listing the deadline dates for those applying for promotion/tenure in the academic year of 2007/08 (promotions and tenure effective 9/08). Please be reminded that Step I comes at the very beginning of the school year, so please don't let it catch you by surprise.

Below is a message from the Chair of the UPC regarding the additional revision approved two years ago if you're applying for promotion WITHIN rank (i.e., AT 1B to AT 2B). All appropriate forms are included in the Faculty Resources section.

"The Council of Instructional Deans and University Personnel Committee have introduced a more "streamlined" application process for application WITHIN ranks of Assistant/Associate Professor. When a professor is applying for Assistant 2, Associate 2 or Associate 3 levels, he/she should use a different form (attached) with the following modified requirements:

  1. Only ONE set of reviews are required for teaching and scholarship. The peer reviewer uses a standardized/more detailed evaluation form provided with the new application.
  2. NO supporting document notebook is required, although a faculty member may present evidence of accomplishment if he/she chooses."

IMPORTANT REMINDER

IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR TENURE, YOU MUST SUBMIT THE DOCTRINAL STATEMENT PORTION OF THE TENURE APPLICATION, ALONG WITH THE DOCTRINAL REVIEW FORM: TENURE, AS A COVER.

Colleagues,

The Faculty Research & Development Committee is now accepting applications for the 2007 - 2008 academic year. We will be awarding grants for Fall 2007, Interterm 2008, Spring 2008, and Summer 2008. This is a great opportunity to receive significant internal funding for any research projects or professional development costs.

Four grant categories exist which correspond to a wide range of opportunities and needs. These should relate directly to research and professional development, and may include release time from teaching or other income-producing responsibilities, equipment, and other research costs.

The deadline for filing the application is March 27, 2007. The committee will announce the recipients by the end of April. The R & D Grant application is attached. Since this new grant period begins with the 2007 - 2008 budget year (which starts July 1st) you may apply for funding in one of the above periods (Fall 2007 through Summer 2008 - all money must be spent by June 30, 2008). Keep in mind that you cannot receive a grant for January and also teach in Interterm. The same principle applies for summer applicants.

If you need assistance or have questions, please call Linda at ext. 4809.
