Plan to attend
Parent Orientation: August 22 – 23, 2008
Parents are highly encouraged to attend the Parent Orientation events when they bring their student to campus. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to support your student throughout their educational process at Biola. There are several seminars offered on a variety of topics including: financial services, general information, how to parent a college student, special and study abroad programs, career planning and Bible curriculum. There is also a special Parent Hospitality Tent that will be open on Friday and Saturday of Orientation Weekend. We recommend that you stop by to meet our council members and learn about resources in the area and on-campus.
The Office of Parent Relations sponsors two highly-recommended events during Orientation weekend, the Parent Dessert Reception on Friday evening and the Parent Luncheon on Saturday. Both events are a wonderful time to meet other parents, become acquainted with the Parent Council and enjoy wonderful food. Parents are welcome to stay through the Communion Service on Saturday evening. This special time for students and their families provides a wonderful opportunity for saying final good-byes. Check out the complete listing of Orientation Activities.
Parent Weekend: October 10 – 12, 2008
Parent Weekend is held on Columbus Day weekend each October. Since it's about six weeks into the semester, it's a great time of year to see your student's environment, meet their friends and visit their favorite classes. It also falls around midterms when students often need some encouragement and to see a face from home. Parents, siblings, grandparents and any other family members are highly encouraged to come. It's a valuable time for both you and your student to interact and help make their Biola experience more complete. Look for more details on this year's Parent Weekend
Prepare to come
Move in day information
After all the packing and preparing the day will come when it’s actually time to move in! The day can be not only physically stressful, but it can be emotionally draining as well. There are a few things you need to keep in mind when preparing for that day. For the 2008-2009 school year the first day new students can move into their dorm room is Friday August 22. When you arrive on campus that day, please use this map (link http://www.biola.edu/about/location/maps/campus/) to locate your student’s particular dorm. Once you arrive look for the many SOS leaders, Admissions Counselors, and even administrators to help you find your way and even help you carry those boxes. Each student will have to check in at their particular dorms, and will be asked to fill out room condition forms and emergency contact forms before receiving the keys to their room. The Residence Life Staff will also be there to greet you that day, and to answer any questions you might have.

Meet Residence Life
Biola's professional Residence Life Staff works with students to organize Bible studies, provides peer counseling, offers training in interpersonal relationships and leadership, and generates lots of good clean fun. Some residence hall activities that are extremely popular are GYRADs (Get Your Roommate a Date), Brother/Sister Floors, and All Hall events. Registration and academic advising
If your student has not submitted their online Academic Profile, please have them do so right away. Students must complete their online Profile and submit their $300 enrollment deposit in order to receive a schedule of classes.
After filling out the Academic Profile the Advising Center will then create a schedule of classes for incoming freshmen based on their major, A.P. tests taken, and college courses taken. After an enrollment deposit and Academic Profile are submitted, you can expect to receive a schedule of classes and instructions, via email, on completing the rest of registration. This final stage of registration is known as WebReg Phase Two, and can be completed online as early as August 5th. This online registration must be completed before arriving on campus.
