Prospective Parents:
In the Office of Parent Relations we are here to serve you while your student is considering attending Biola, as well as once they have enrolled. As a parent of a student considering Biola University, you may have many questions. Throughout your Biola experience, we want to assist you in any way possible to enhance the partnership between Biola, your student and your family.
Below, we have compiled a list of various information that will hopefully be of help to you as a parent, as you guide your student through this exciting time.
Preparing for Biola
High school course requirements
The student must have graduated from high school or earned an equivalent degree (GED). The following is a recommended high school curriculum:
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of Mathematics
- 2-4 years of Foreign Language
- 2 years of Science
- 2 years of Social Science
Note: Elective courses in fine arts and PE are encouraged. Prospective nursing candidates must have one year each of chemistry and algebra. Biology majors must have one year each of chemistry and physics.
Deficiencies in the student's high school curriculum may be made up while at Biola. Homeschool students and international students have an adjusted standard in this area.
SAT/ACT codes
SAT (Code 4017) or ACT (Code 0172).
The SAT or ACT is required of all applicants except those who are transferring in from another school.
Application deadlines
To qualify for an application deadline, all materials must be received in the Admissions Office by the appropriate deadline date. If a student qualifies for a specific application deadline, they will be notified of admission by the corresponding notification date.

Note: Applications for the fall semester that are received after March 1 are considered late, charged a late fee of $55, and processed if space is available and time allows.

Opportunities for Southern Californian High School students
The Biola University Admissions staff invites parents and students to attend one of the many scheduled preview days. Each year during the fall semester, and spring semester Biola will host preview days where students are invited to attend class, meet with professors, eat in the cafeteria, and stay in the dorms. Parents are also invited to attend the Parent Breakfast, a financial aid seminar, and interact with a Parent Panel. Click here for exact dates and registration info.
Opportunities for non-local High School students
Biola Bound is a 4 day visit opportunity for those students who are visiting Biola for their first time and who live out of state or who have a California zip code of 94000-96199. Students who ultimately enroll at Biola and meet other eligibility requirements will even be reimbursed for their flight (up to $500)! Click here to find out more.

Should your student decide to attend Biola we invite you to join us for opening weekend August 21-22, 2009. Friday, August 21 is the first day new students are able to move into their dorms. Throughout the day Friday and Saturday as you move your student in, be sure to stop by the Parent Relations Tent for helpful info, refreshments, and giveaways. Official events for parents and students will begin on Friday evening. Look for a full schedule of events to be mailed to you this summer.
