Degree Audit & Transferring Units

I took math and science.  Why doesn’t Degree Audit check it off?

Degree Audit is programmed to look for 3 units of math + 3 units of science + 2 units of either math or science.  Any other combination is placed in the “Fall through Electives” section of the audit.  If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Registrar.

Will this G.E. class transfer from my community college?

A list of pre-approved classes is available here.  If the class or school is not listed, please see the Transfer Evaluator in the Registrar’s Office.

Will this class transfer for my major requirement?

You will need to complete a Substitution Request form and have it approved by your major department before submitting it to the Office of the Registrar for final approval.

Will a “D” grade transfer?

No.  A transferred course must have a grade of “C” or higher in order to receive credit.

How many units can I transfer?

You may transfer a maximum of 70 units from community colleges.  There is no limit on transfer units from a four year school.  Remember that community college coursework is lower division only.

Registration

When do I register for classes?

WebReg Phase I (Course Selection):

Current Biola Students: WebReg Phase I (Course Selection) is required of all current students.  Every fall and spring semester, current students are given the opportunity to reserve classes for the upcoming semester.  The course selection time schedule is determined by the number of completed units a student has at the time of course selection (units a student is enrolled in for that semester are not included).  Students must clear their registration holds in order to access Course Selection.

New or Re-Admit Biola Students:  Special course selection dates are held by the Office of Admissions for transfer and re-admit students.  For details regarding these events please contact your Admissions Counselor.  New students will receive a schedule of classes and information about WebReg Phase II prior to the start of school.

WebReg Phase II (Final Registration):

Completing WebReg Phase II (Final Registration) confirms that you will be attending classes for the upcoming fall or spring semester.  University Services such as meal plans, parking and student health insurance are activated at this time.  It is assumed that students who do not complete final registration do not plan to attend that semester and their classes will be dropped.

Registration is finalized when students complete the following:  all steps of WebReg Phase II (including adding classes and the legal agreement) and the required down payment for the semester.

Late WebRegStudents who are unable to complete WebReg during the regular registration period may register late.  Students complete late WebReg may be severely limited because many classes may be closed.  All students completing Late WebReg will be charged a $120 late registration fee.  The last day to complete registration is announced in the Academic Calendar.  Students completing late registration should also check with the Office of the Registrar for the last day to complete Late WebReg without being dropped from classes.

Graduation & Petition

What do I need to do before I graduate?

Graduating seniors (undergraduate) must file a “Senior Petition” form with the Office of the Registrar, meet with their advisor, submit any departmental checklists and schedule an appointment with the graduation counselor one year prior to graduation.  Students filing late will be charged a late graduation petition fee ($200).  A late petition is defined as any graduation petition received after classes begin in the student’s graduating semester.

Download your senior petition forms here:

Graduate level students need to schedule an appointment with the graduate programs graduation counselor in the Office of the Registrar.  Graduate students should either come in or call the Office of the Registrar at (562) 903-4720 to schedule an appointment.  Prior to meeting with the graduation counselor the student needs to meet with their advisor.  The student should bring a copy of their worksheet to their graduation counseling appointment, which will be provided by their advisor.
