What will I study?
The Human Biology major is designed to provide the prerequisites for many hearlthcare careers. The course work includes Human Anatomy, Human Physiology and Neurobiology, where the focus is specifically on what happens in humans. A student graduating will have the opportunity to go into many different careers since the major can be tailored to the students needs by choosing specific electives that meet the requirements of the students chosen future profession. The student's academic advisor can help the student choose the appropriate electives.
A special opportunity occurs for those students interested in becoming a Chiropractor. Biola offers a 3 + 1 1/2 cooperative program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology. This program is offered in cooperation with Southern California University of Health Science. During the first three years, students complete coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, biblical studies, and the liberal arts at Biola. The upper division biology courses are taken while enrolled at Southern California University of Health Science during the final year. Upon successful completion of the program, the student earns the Bachelor of Science degree from Biola. All courses must be completed with a "C" grade or higher with a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be admitted into the program. Upon successful completion of the entire chiropractic program and examinations, the student earns the doctor of chiropractic degree from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, a professional school, accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Council on Chiropractic Education. It is located just three miles from Biola, in Whittier, California.

Admissions Requirements
High school requirements are: one year of biology, one year of chemistry, three years of mathematics, and two years of foreign language. One year of physics is desirable. Deficiencies can be fulfilled with permission from the Department of Biological Science.
