Missions Conference is the highlight of many students’ Spring semester at Biola. The conference is hosted by the Student Missionary Union (SMU), which happens to be the largest and longest running student-led missionary organization in the country. The conference is essentially a three day event that seeks to “create a consecrated time of response to God, reserved for the Holy Spirit to align the hearts of students to the completion of the Great Commission.” This years’ theme is: UNITED. One Spirit. One Body. One Purpose.
The conference features speakers from around the world who speak on the importance of either global or local missions. The conference is meant to awaken a passion for evangelism and bringing hope to lost people groups throughout Biola. Along with engaging in worship and prayer, students are able to walk through rooms that feature different global issues and reflect on their part in serving the world. Many students have said that Missions Conference has completely changed the way they see the world and God. The conference is meant to inspire and ignite students to make a difference and partake in the commission from Jesus that we see in Matthew 28.
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Missions conference is open to friends, family and the community. We hope to see you guys there! Also, If you have a student or know of anyone attending a mission trip, or you feel led to give, you can donate HERE!
Till next time,
Jess
