In the next few weeks, the alumni office will be sending out again an extensive events schedule for your planning, involvement and entertainment for the coming year. More than 3,000 alumni joined us for one of our on- or off-campus events last year and, if you missed it, we had an amazing assortment of activities designed just for you, with every budget considered. (Some were even free for the tightest of budgets.)
In the upcoming academic year of 2010-11, we will host a similar schedule of activities, literally around the world! We have several events scheduled this summer and numerous chapter events. On July 12–23 we will be in Germany and Switzerland for the Reformation Tour and Passion Play in Oberammergau. This event is sold out, but you can check with the alumni office about last minute cancelations. Then in August we will be at the Hollywood Bowl for dinner and a concert of music by Tchaikovsky that will include fireworks and one of his most famous works, the 1812 Overture.
If concerts aren’t your thing, a week later on Aug. 28, we will be at Angel Stadium in Anaheim for a barbeque and Angel game. This event has been a wonderful highlight as we join together under the “Big A.” This is a modestly priced event that includes dinner, a special alumni Angel shirt and tickets to the game.
Almost every week, all summer long, we are celebrating our new students as our alumni chapters host Freshman Sendoffs. These events include an opportunity to meet our new freshman and their parents and share with them your memorable stories and life-changing experiences that fit into the “what not to miss” category at Biola. These events are wonderful introductions to our new students as they head to Biola in August.
For all of the events for the 2010–11 season, visit the alumni website and register. Remember: Alumni events usually sell out, so get your tickets early and plan ahead! We look forward to seeing you sometime soon either here at Biola or at one of our chapter events around the world!
Go Biola!
