As the driving force behind the new public relations major — which she launched and currently leads — journalism professor Carolyn Kim plays a significant role at Biola. In addition to teaching, she is the adviser of the student-run agency 6th Street PR and the Biola chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America. For her work at Biola, Kim received the Award of Excellence for Community Relations and Institutional Programs from the Orange County Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 2012.
Kim earned both a B.A. in journalism and M.A. in Christian apologetics from Biola, and just recently finished a Ph.D in communications at Regent University. As evidenced by her degrees, she has a passion for people and theology.
“The combination of a confident and robust understanding of worldviews with a dedication and passion for developing relationships is a powerful way to engage the world,” she said. “Today, I see my love for apologetics and passion for PR as the conduit through which I genuinely and authentically can love my neighbor.”
