Parent Weekend hosted over 500 parents and family members for two days of special events and activities. A Mexican Fiesta on Metzger Lawn officially kicked off the weekend with Bon Appetit catering a Mexican cuisine buffet. Bright tissue paper flowers, Mexican banners and colorful balloons decorated the lawn and tent, and the Biola student club, Unidos, provided entertainment with a Latin music band and Salsa, Merengue and Flamenco dancers.
Students and parents had the opportunity to participate in a number of events during Parent Weekend, such as the Round Robin Tennis Tournament, organized by coach Dee Henry. Other activities included a Shane and Shane concert, two PRISM concerts and several athletic competitions in which parents of Biola athletes were recognized. Early Saturday morning, President Corey and Ken Bascom, Senior Director of Facilities Planning, led guests on a Vision Walk of campus that included the site of the future Talbot Building Complex, the Media Production Center and the Olive Grove Park. Following the Vision Walk, families filled the tent on Metzger Lawn to enjoy brunch with President Corey.
After an afternoon of free time, students and guests were treated to a delicious banquet while listening to the acoustic sound of the worship band Nexus, followed by an inspirational talk by Todd Pickett, Dean of Spiritual Development. Despite the brisk temperature, guests had a lovely evening under the tent, with many topping off their night by cheering on the Biola Men's soccer and Women's volleyball teams.
