Cliché though it might seem, there is really only one word to describe the matinee performance of Mary Poppins that Biola alumni and friends enjoyed on Saturday, November 21: supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

After a delightful buffet lunch at Café Metropol, hosted by President and Mrs. Barry H. Corey, the group of 55 alumni and friends moved on to the Ahmanson Theater, where they were held spellbound by a cast that included the Mary Poppins who had played on Broadway and the Bert who played both London and Broadway. While the entire production was superbly presented, there were no greater moments than Bert’s tap dancing center stage on the ceiling of the stage while singing “Step in Time” and Mary’s departure from the Banks’ home, soaring over the orchestra seating and up across the balcony.

The family-friendly event provided a great opportunity for alumni to introduce their children to Biola, and there were several enthusiastic future Biolans in the group.
