Less than a decade after sitting on Metzger Lawn waiting for her name to be called, fashion blogger and stylist Beth Jones (’06) — “Beth Turner” at the time — has come a long way from the black cap-and-gown-look. Originally from South Carolina, Jones came to Biola University with her own creative take on West Coast fashion and in September 2011 was featured on the pages of Vogue magazine as a model for CoverGirl.

“Vogue reached out to me to be part of the CoverGirl campaign for their September Issue. Honestly, I was in ecstatic shock when I found out,” said Jones. “I didn't even really believe it until I was headed out on a plane to New York for the shoot.”

Vogue chose Jones to be a part of their Vogue Influencer Network, made up of online fashion bloggers and social media stylists asked to review and spread the word about their advertisers’ products. She worked specifically with their CoverGirl campaign, for which she was invited to New York for a photo shoot.

“The day of the shoot was an experience I will never forget … every girl's dream come true. I felt truly honored to be part of it,” said Jones.

Back in 2007, she plunged into the fashion world by starting up her own fashion website, The Vintage Society, which gave readers a taste of her own personal style — a fusion of vintage and modern. Within a year, her creative posts and outfits attracted thousands of visitors a day.

Soon, she caught the attention of Quiksilver, who sponsored her as a “Visionary in Residence” during the launch of their new women’s line. She later became online fashion editor for Quicksilver Women, allowing her to contribute to creative projects and online marketing campaigns including the “LA It Girls” photo shoot and an online video series called “Getting Dressed with Quiksilver Women.”

Jones currently works as Quicksilver Women’s “style ambassador” and travels abroad to promote the brand. She also founded and continues to write for her own personal online fashion blog, B. Jones Style, where readers get an up-close look at Jones’ daily life — from her outfits, favorite shops, hair tutorials, fashion inspirations, to anything else that she can possibly relate to living in style.

In 2009, Biola interviewed Jones about her success and transition from Biola to her current career and how her faith is integrated with who she is in her position. Watch the video below to hear more of Jones' story.
