For the second year in a row, Biola has earned a spot on Newsweek’s college rankings for “Best Weather” schools. With 284 sunny days and only 31 rainy ones every year, Biola ranks at No. 11 on the list of top 25 schools in the nation, according to Newsweek.

Responding to college rankings conducted by other publications, Newsweek decided to produce its own set of college rankings last year focusing on “real concerns of parents and prospective students,” according to the magazine.

For the weather rankings, Newsweek and The Daily Beast ranked schools based on the average number of predominantly sunny days and days with precipitation of more than .01 inch.The magazine also factored in the relative comfort index, a measure of afternoon temperature and humidity according to Sperling’s Best Places.

Last year, Biola was ranked at No. 23 on the list, which included schools that had two qualities: “terrific weather and a smart student body,” the publication stated.

Biola was also recently named as one of 17 “Up and Coming” National Universities by U.S. News & World Report, which puts it among institutions that have recently implemented the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus or facilities, according to the rankings guide.
