J.P. Moreland’s book Love Your God With All Your Mind made waves in the Christian market when it was first released in 1997. This year marked the book’s 15th anniversary and with it, the release of an updated special edition.
“Since its original publication, Love Your God with All Your Mind has had an impact for the cause of Christ that goes considerably beyond anything I could have imagined,” said Moreland, a Biola University distinguished professor of philosophy.
Moreland found that the book impacted readers from around the world, receiving testimonies over the years from Christians in different seasons of life and a range of professions who found the book to be supportive to their life with God. Although Moreland estimates that most of the first edition’s content is as relevant today as when it first printed, he wanted to offer a revised and updated version with some changes to better serve today’s readers.
When Love Your God With All Your Mind was first published, it was part of a newly developed “Spiritual Formation Line” of books published by NavPress. Moreland was writing to the issue of inadequately integrating and cultivating “the role of reason in the life of the soul.” Moreland encourages his readers to develop their mind within their Christian life.
“In my acknowledgments I said, ‘My prayer is that this book will contribute to restoration of the church’s intellectual life because it is the church that is the pillar and support of the truth.’ I believed that then and I certainly believe that now,” said Moreland. “As disciples of Jesus we have the resources to discipline the mind under the direction of God and His kingdom.”
The revised edition is available in paperback and as a Kindle version.
