PHOENIX, Ariz. --- Even the toughest road trip within the Golden State Athletic Conference wouldn't be enough to derail the special kind of season Biola Women's Soccer has had in 2015.

The No. 14 Eagles team withstood the stress of the six hour trip to Phoenix to clinch a share of the GSAC Regular Season title with a 1-0 victory over Arizona Christian on Saturday afternoon.

This is just the second GSAC title in program history and the first since 2004. For some perspective on that, Biola's stud freshman center back Madyson Brown would've been in second grade when that happened.

"It's pretty phenomenal. It's awesome," said Head Coach Erin Brunelle. "I've tried to keep this team so focused that it's hard for them to actually celebrate. So I am waiting for them to erupt."

Eruption would be perfectly acceptable, and even anticipated, in this scenario as the Eagles have posted a dream season in Brunelle's first season at the helm. The win today gets the team to a 13-2-3 overall record and 7-1-2 record in GSAC play.

The 7-1-2 mark leaves the team tied with No. 8 Westmont in first place in the conference just one point ahead of No. 12 Vanguard. The Eagles have the best overall record in the GSAC with the .806 winning percentage.

Today's win came in a tightly contested battle as the slightly shorthanded Eagles just squeaked past the Firestorm team that finished 2015 0-10 in conference play.

The lone goal of the match came from Brittni Coffeen. It's her second goal of the season and second of her career at Biola. The goal is her first against a conference opponent and likely the biggest she'll get in conference play.

She was a super sub for Brunelle as she entered the game about 20 minutes in before tallying what would be the game-winner in the 37th minute.

Despite the small margin in the goal column the Eagles dominated every other facet of the game, but simply had trouble finding the back of the net with more regularity.

Biola took 17 more shots than Arizona Christian and directed five more on goal than the Firestorm's two.

Adeline Saldana and Mariah Ziemer each had good chances to extend the lead late in the second half, but some frantic defending kept the score line right where it was at as the Eagles took the one-goal victory.

That was all the team would need to take its slice of the GSAC Championship as it knew going into the day that a win would be good enough. When Westmont went on to beat San Diego Christian 9-0 later in the day it solidified the tie.

One of the most impressive facets of this Biola Women's Soccer title run has been the play on the road. The Eagles finished the regular season 7-1-1 away from the friendly confines of Al Barbour Field.

They won't have to worry about being on the road anytime in the near future though as the Eagles can assure that at least its next two matches would be at home. The Eagles are hosting the 2015 GSAC Championship Tournament Semifinals and Finals at Al Barbour Field on Nov. 12 and 14.

"We're focused on what's ahead," said Brunelle. "This accomplishment is huge. It's great, but winning the conference tournament is what moves us forward to the national tournament.  So that's where my mindset has been and that's where they are at."
