On Saturday, Nov. 12, a group of 55 alumni, parents, and friends of Biola gathered in Chicago to connect with President Barry H. Corey to learn more about “A Soul of Conviction, A Voice of Courage: The Campaign for Biola University” — a $180 million comprehensive fundraising campaign to raise support for student scholarships, facilities, academic centers and online learning.
Pastor Christopher Brooks (’10), the senior pastor of Evangel Ministries, a thriving 1,600 member church in the heart of Detroit, addressed local members of the Biola community in Chicago at the last national tour event for “The Campaign for Biola University.” Brooks is also the daily host of Equipped for Life, aired daily on the Salem Network.
Brooks shared his experience as an alumnus of Biola’s Christian Apologetics Program and how it shaped his view of ministry in the city.
“I learned a theology of cities at Biola. God places cities in the heart of his people and he places his people in the heart of cities,” said Brooks. “I think it is the generosity of the supporters and the leadership of Biola that has allowed for 65,000 alumni to impact our world. Now, more than ever, is the time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.”
Corey also announced the exciting news that “The Campaign for Biola University” has reached a total of $179 million committed to the campaign. Guests were then given the opportunity to donate which resulted in more than $53,357.000 given at the event to support Biola’s bold vision for the future.
The campaign for Biola University concludes on December 31, 2016. For more information please visit giving.biola.edu/nationaltour.
