The Biola Shuttle will cease operation at the end of this semester due to a decline in usage and the need to wisely steward financial resources.
Since starting the Biola Shuttle program in 2012, the Shuttle has served students by transporting them to and from Biola’s off-campus apartments and to nearby shopping centers. However, usage of the shuttle has steadily declined after Covid-19. Last year the shuttle changed its services from a designated route schedule to an on-demand schedule in hopes to increase the number of students using the shuttle, but the numbers did not increase. Next year, the conversion of the La Mirada Apartments from undergraduate housing to family housing will lead to an even more significant decline in ridership.
We will continue to provide our off-campus housing students with safe transportation services to their homes on Rosecrans. Starting Fall 2024, Campus Safety will be providing transportation services in the evening hours in between other safety service calls. Students may request a Campus Safety officer to transport them to the off-campus apartments during evening hours by calling (562) 903-6000.
