Yesterday, Biola University announced the appointment of David Vazquez as its new Vice President for Advancement. Vazquez will transition out of his position at Vanguard University as the chief of staff over the next couple of months.
“I am thrilled and honored to join the Biola community in this role. I am drawn to Biola’s unyielding Christ-centered educational mission, commitment to transformation of its students, and pursuit of excellence,” said Vazquez. “I look forward to partnering with Biola’s leadership, Advancement team, faculty and staff, and donors and alumni to champion and resource the mission and impact of one of the foremost leading evangelical Christian universities in the world.”
As a Southern California native, Vazquez attended Vanguard University where he received his bachelor’s degree and the Sol Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California where he received his master of public administration degree.
He has been serving in an executive leadership role as chief of staff at Vanguard and serves as chair of the president’s cabinet. Prior to this, he served as the Senior Director of External Relations in the Advancement area.
He has served and continues to serve on various boards of directors for non-profit and civic organizations, including World Relief, and as chair of the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and also chair of the City of Orange Planning Commission.
“David is committed to Christian higher education and passionate about partnering with external constituents and organizations to support the mission of the institution. He has secured many grants for academic programs and corporate sponsorships. His experience spans across the Advancement area, including donor relations, hosting donor events, alumni engagement efforts and advancement communication,” said Biola President, Barry H. Corey. “He is well-connected in the community, has earned the respect of leaders and is dearly loved by the Vanguard community and beyond.”
Vazquez will assume the position of Vice President for Advancement at Biola on June 1, 2024.
