LA MIRADA, CALIF. — Biola University is partnering with YouVersion, the world’s leading Bible app, to widely distribute biblically rich reading plans for Lent and Advent. This collaboration will allow millions of people worldwide to engage with Scripture through Biola’s theologically rooted and thoughtfully crafted devotionals.
For over a century, Biola has been committed to equipping believers with a deep understanding of Scripture and a strong foundation in faith. The reading plans housed on the Bible app will feature content from Biola’s Center for Christianity, Culture and the Arts (CCCA) Lent Project and Advent Project. For many years, the content from the projects have been widely available online and delivered to subscribers via email, and have served as valuable resources for personal and communal spiritual growth for over 60,000 subscribers globally.
This year’s Lent project is diving into the final seven sayings of Christ before his death on the cross. The 2025 Lent Project offers a sustained exploration into the final hours and words of Christ as He bled and died for the sins of the world — past, present and future. The project began on Ash Wednesday and goes through Easter Sunday. The 2024 Advent Project can now be found on the YouVersion app as well as on the CCCA website.
“As a Christ-centered university, Biola is passionate about making Scripture accessible and impactful for people around the world,” said Biola President Dr. Barry H. Corey. “Through this partnership with YouVersion, we are able to extend the reach of our biblical teaching beyond the classroom and into the hands of millions seeking to grow in their faith.”
The YouVersion Bible App, with over 600 million downloads, provides an accessible way for individuals and communities to engage with God’s Word daily. In 2023, Bobby Gruenewald, the founder of YouVersion, was Biola’s keynote speaker at commencement, inspiring graduates with a charge to look at the here and now as exactly where God wanted them.
