Recently, prior to one of our family trips this summer I stumbled across what looks like a great resource for kids produced by “Faith Comes By Hearing.” It's been a blessing to our kids, so I thought I'd pass it along.
In short, "Faith Comes by Hearing" has produced a dramatized reading of over 140 (mostly narrative) passages of Scripture in the ESV called the ESV Kidz Bible. We discovered and downloaded it before our trip, and our kids easily listened for over an hour each time we were in the car. Since then, we’ve also used it as a supplement to some of our family devotionals because of how enthusiastic they are about it. Undoubtedly, this caught my eye (ear?) because of the stage of life we are in. But frankly, I’ve enjoyed listening to the Scripture readings with my kids, and I've been encouraged by the way that it has prompted them to ask some thoughtful questions about the passages they've heard. If you’ve got youngsters, you might want to take a listen, and see if it would be a useful tool in your home. They also have a complete audio reading of the New Testament available. To top it all off, both are free.
