The Bible Institute of Los Angeles was founded on a bright and beautiful (75 degree) February day with a bright and beautiful vision for the future: to equip men and women sharing and defending the Christian faith in the rapidly changing boomtown of 20th century Los Angeles and beyond. As we once again venture into the rapidly changing cultural, economic, demographic and religious topography of a new century, Talbot is going back to Biola’s future.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Biola’s first-ever fully online bachelor’s degree in Bible, Theology and Apologetics (BBTA). Leveraging the educational innovations of 2021 but inspired by Biola’s audacious vision of 1908, this 120-credit program offers students from all over the globe a chance to learn from many of Biola’s top scholars and practitioners in the fields of biblical studies, theology and apologetics.

The BBTA program consists of four interweaving curricular components: 1) Biola’s non-Bible general education, 2) a broad foundation in Old and New Testament studies, 3) a sequence of systematic and integrative theology courses, and 4) a robust track in cutting-edge apologetics. Along the way, these main academic pillars are fortified with 9 credits focused on ministry application. This degree provides students with courses and competencies that are not only unique to the broader marketplace of higher education, but uniquely aligned with Biola’s historic contributions and current strengths. Even better, this program opens the treasury of Biola’s Bible, Theology, and Apologetics courses to the world, making them more accessible and flexible without compromising their academic and spiritual rigor. Now, Biolans across the globe can deepen their biblical and theological roots without uprooting from their local churches, ministries and mission fields.

While so much has changed in 113 years, with the Bachelor of Science in Bible, Theology, and Apologetics, we get right back to the same bright and beautiful vision that originally inspired Biola’s future: to educate and equip men and women to impact society at home and abroad with the truth of the gospel.
