Meet With Future Accountants
Whether it be Meet the Firms, Mock Interviews, or Office Tours, the Biola Accounting Society organizes many different events throughout the year. If you are interested in participating in a current event or partnering with us to create a new one, please contact us at accountingsociety.club@biola.edu.
Meet the Firms
Once every September, the Biola Accounting Society partners with over 14 major firms and organizations, such as Deloitte, KPMG and BDO in order to allow a meeting ground for students and professionals. This is the biggest Biola Accounting Society event of the year, drawing students from Biola, Azusa Pacific, and various other universities. This event is an excellent way to become familiar with the profession and individual firms.
The evening begins with two different panels: one with information geared towards new accounting students, and one geared towards journeymen students looking to understand specifics of the practice. These panels will consist of a normal panel discussion, followed by a Q&A portion. Following these panels, students are invited to browse the booths of different accounting firms and network with recruiters.
Mock Interviews
Interviews are a key deciding factor in the job search process. Mock Interviews provide students with a great opportunity to interview with professionals without the stress of an actual job interview. Students sign up for one-on-one segments where the professional asks them simulated interview questions, evaluates their resume, and discusses the strengths and weaknesses of their interview. By receiving individual assessments, students are able to tailor their future career efforts to fit the specifications of the companies they desire to work for.
This event is also advantageous for accounting firms because it provides a glimpse at motivated, future accountants. The students attending these interviews have an end career goal in mind, as well as the drive to achieve it.
Office Tours
To the deliberating student, an office tour can often be the difference between an accepted job offer and a rejected one. These events reveal the individual cultures of accounting firms and also give students an opportunity to meet with a variety of firm professionals.
For the accounting firm, office tours allow for a personal interaction with Biola students. Conversations with firm employees reveal whether these students have the social skills necessary for auditing, or the right attitude for working in a tax department.
CPA Information Session
For many graduating accounting majors, becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) marks the culmination of an academic career. The requirements for the examination can be difficult to understand. Luckily, Biola Accounting Society has partnered with Becker Professional Education to help you find the best path to your CPA license.
Informational Dinner
As you begin your accounting education, you may desire more information. To help answer your questions, Biola Accounting Society is pleased to host an invitational information dinner. Students who are excelling in their first year accounting classes will enjoy a delicious three course meal, a chance to network with recruiters, and have their concerns addressed.
Social Events
The Biola Accounting Society recognizes the need for a diligent work ethic. However, once the work is in the books, students will be invited to join the fun of the BAS social events. Events range from broom ball, beach bonfires, laser tag and celebratory banquets. You are always welcome to join the fun!
