In hopes of bringing cheer to U.S. troops, Biola students recently tapped into their creative side in partnership with the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes’ “Holiday Mail for Heroes” campaign. Using colored Sharpies and cardstock, students had the opportunity to make personalized cards thanking U.S. troops for their service.

For the fourth year, the Red Cross and Pitney Bowes are working to send Christmas spirit through the “Holiday Mail for Heroes” campaign, which has reached 3 million service members and veterans during its first three years.

Biola University joined many other schools in participating in this year campaign, which kicked off on Nov. 12 for Biola, following the University’s annual Veterans Day chapel. Biola participated for the second time, with more than 130 cards sent to the Red Cross to distribute to service members.

“I loved seeing so many Biola students wanting to bless veterans and wish them a Merry Christmas, with just a simple card,” said Biola sophomore Sarah Jordan. “I think that sending out cards all over the world to our troops and helping as a believer can influence the world.”

The Red Cross and Pitney Bowes started “Holiday Mail for Heroes” in an effort to send 1 million cards to service members. The campaign is part of the Red Cross’ “commitment to support military families, military, and veterans hospitals and provide emergency communications across the globe,” according to the organization.
