THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. --- Dee Henry has served Biola and the La Mirada community faithfully for over 40 years, and on a late-June evening she was recognized for her lifetime of service to the United States Professional Tennis Association with the Pete Brown Lifetime Achievement Award.

The honor was bestowed upon Biola’s head women’s tennis coach in recognition of her 20 years of service to the organization’s California division and the professional tennis community.

She was honored along with 17 other local professionals during the USPTA California Division awards dinner at the North Ranch Country Club.

Henry has been a shining example of service since arriving at Biola University in 1971. She has led the team to over 300 match wins, hosts annual regional tournaments for the United States Tennis Association, holds wheelchair tennis events and kids tennis dates.

Henry was the 2005 National Winner of the USTA/ITA Campus Recreation Award and was one of six recipients of the 2006 USTA Eve Kraft Community Service Award. Recently, she has earned a the 2010 United States Olympic Volunteer Tennis Coach Award and the 2011 Southern California Division Facility Manager of the Year.

Henry has also received a pair of service awards in the last few years, receiving Biola's Ruby Slipper Ester Award for Servanthood in 2010 and the 2011 Apple of our Eye Community/Civic Service Awards from the Dayle McIntosh Center.

She is currently hosting the 32nd Annual National Junior Tennis & Learning camp at the Biola Tennis Center and preparing her roster for the 2015 tennis season.
