LA MIRADA, CALIF. –– Returning to Biola University’s Conservatory of Music, Menahem Pressler is slated to perform a piano concert in celebration of his 90th birthday. Biola’s artist-in-residence and one of the world’s most acclaimed pianists will perform alongside associate professor, Li-Shan Hung, and the Biola Symphony Orchestra on May 10, 2014 at 7:30pm.
 
“Mr. Pressler is one the most revered musicians in the world,” said Li-Shan Hung. “It's truly a blessing to the Biola community.”
 
Pressler will perform Mozart’s Concerto in E Flat Major for Two Pianos and Orchestra to mark his 90th birthday, which was on December 16, 2013. Pressler has performed at Biola for the past 30 years. He last played at Biola in 2010 when he was joined by violinist, Louise Owen, performing works from Schumann, Mozart, Schubert and Duo Sonata. 
 
Upon winning the 1946 Debussy International Piano Competition in San Francisco, Pressler’s career took off. In 1955, Pressler first performed with violinist, Daniel Hope and cellist, Antonio Meneses as The Beaux Arts Trio. The trio went on to perform together for 53 more years. With a career spanning more than half a century, Pressler has performed at most major orchestras.
