Other Programs
History Honors Program
This program is designed for senior history majors and for those who have history concentrations in social science and humanities. It is designed as a year-long, independent research project under faculty supervision. Students who are a few credits short of senior standing may petition the chairman for admission into the Honors Program. Students entering the program must have 15 credits of upper-division history. History majors with a departmental GPA of 3.5 or better are eligible. Candidates for honors will be required to meet all history major requirements: the program will count as six credits of work (see HIST 490, HIST 491). The J.O. Henry Prize will be given annually for the outstanding paper in the disciplines of History, Political Science or Social Science.
History: Secondary Instruction
The History and Political Science Department offers a major in History with a Secondary Instruction Concentration.
The Professional Teacher Preparation Program leading to a California Teaching Credential at Biola University is subject to change in response to new legislation. Please see a credential analyst in the School of Education for current information on completing the requirements for a teaching credential. Students must consult with both their major advisor and a School of Education advisor.
In order to complete this program, students must:
- Fulfill all of the requirements of the History: Secondary Instruction Concentration program.
- Take the required LEDU courses.
The courses required for this specialized history program help prepare students to pass the CSET Examination in Social Science. Students must pass the CSET Examination prior to applying for student teaching.
