The Vessel probes a small town coping with a natural disaster that ten years earlier destroyed the school and killed the young children. The Vessel asks where is God in a world filled with pain. How do we learn to live and love after tragedy and make peace with the mystery of life? Starring Martin Sheen with executive producer Terrence Malick.
Question and answer session following the film with director Julio Quintana and producer Marla Quintana.
Why you should attend?
- The Quintanas have managed to create their first feature film, convince Martin Sheen to star, get Terrence Malick to executive produce, spend next to nothing and yet make a film that looks like a million bucks and asks important questions.
- The Vessel was shot in both Spanish and English for international distribution.
- Cinematographer Santiago “Chago” Benet designed the shots around natural light. This is his first feature film.
- The film was shot on location in a tiny coastal slum in Puerto Rico called La Perla.
- Marla Quintana is the producer. She is head of production at Bat Bridge Entertainment and worked with Jerry Bruckheimer Television, CNN and most recently Showtime.
- Julio Quintana is Cuban-American. Julio and Marla are bilingual.
The Vessel is scheduled for theatrical release later this year. The film is not yet rated. Not suitable for children because of thematic elements and a character breifly without clothes.
This screening is by special arrangement with MJM Entertainment and Bat Bridge Entertainment.
