What are some basic molecular biology techniques used in a lab?
In this 4-day summer camp, students will be led through a series of experiments that illustrate the principles and hands-on technique to do just that. Students will learn good laboratory techniques, using a pipette to handle small volumes, performing DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, restriction digest, PCR, and protein analysis.
Day 1: Pipette practice, DNA extraction
Day 2: Performing gel electrophoresis from start to finish
Day 3: Protein analysis, invited faculty to speak on molecular biology
Day 4: PCR analysis of biological samples
Note: Lunch is not provided but students will have access to Biola's cafeteria if they'd like to buy lunch there.
Fee: $225.00
