The Office of Student Enrichment & Intercultural Development invites the Biola Community and broader LA/OC community to an engaging symposium discussion on, Nuisance or Neighbors? LA Housing Epidemic and Homelessness.
Each semester, the SEID symposiums challenge the hearts and minds of Biola students by engaging in biblically-centered discourse tackling difficult social issues facing our society today. Join SEID as we explore the U.S. housing shortage and homelessness crisis. A multidisciplinary panel will discuss the complexities of the homelessness crisis and how we need to stay sensitive to such a massive problem. Other topics of discussion will include:
Supreme Court’s ruling in the case of City of Grants Pass, OR, v Johnson and the potential impact of criminalization of homelessness
The response to the affordable housing shortage and the impact on the single-family homeowners
The SEID symposiums create a safe and supportive environment where students have an opportunity to engage in critical analysis of social issues, learn from diverse ideological perspectives, and facilitate biblically sound discussions with peers, professional staff and faculty that drive students to be heavens solutions for earth's most challenging problems.
Location: Kim Dining Room at Biola University
