Graduate Clinical Training
At Rosemead, your hands-on training begins early and builds, step by step, throughout your years of study. This leads to a full-time internship in your fifth year of study and prepares you to interact with and work in the mental health community while maintaining a Christian worldview.
Located near one of the highest concentrations of clinical practices in the nation, Rosemead provides opportunities for students to intern and receive training at many of the excellent clinics that offer a diversity of training experiences. The variety of agencies which regularly train Rosemead students — surrounding school districts, community mental health centers, child, adolescent and adult treatment centers, outpatient clinics, and private and public psychiatric hospitals — ensure that you’ll gain a breadth of clinical experiences in professional settings while working with diverse populations that make up the greater Los Angeles area.

Biola Counseling Center
Rosemead operates the Biola Counseling Center, which provides clinical services to Biola students and to the community at large. Your participation at the Biola Counseling Center will take you beyond the classroom beginning in your second year of study. -
Practicum Courses at Training Sites
All Rosemead students receive training in two or more of these types of settings: university counseling centers, community mental health centers, hospitals and medical centers, in-patient or correctional settings. These agencies provide you with diverse clinical experiences, offering opportunities to work with children and adults from many sociocultural backgrounds. If desired, students also have opportunities to apply to practicum sites specific to their areas and populations of interest and career goals (e.g., neuropsychology, child/family therapy). Students receive supervision both at training sites and on-campus with Rosemead faculty, preparing you to interface with the mental health community while maintaining a Christian integrative conceptualization of practice. -
Psychotherapy Lab Courses
These courses, taken concurrently with theory courses, allow you to practice under supervision in the psychotherapy modalities that you are learning. Students in the Psy.D. track must complete at least 18 credits from psychotherapy lab courses, and students in the Ph.D. track must complete at least 12 credits. These courses are taken during the second, third and fourth years of the program. -
Year-Long Internship
Rosemead's unique clinical program will give you the extensive practical experience you need to qualify for some of the nation's most competitive internship opportunities. Rosemead maintains a strong placement rate in APA-accredited internships.
