Our events will serve to educate the Biola community through a dynamic range of workshops, panels and sessions with guest speakers from around the world, providing a comprehensive and interactive learning experience in the field of AI.

Principles

All our events will incorporate one or more of the following seven principles — key skills that people need to thrive as AI continues to shape and change our world. These principles will focus on using our intelligence with wisdom, discernment and adaptability, which are crucial for leading the way in a future full of innovative ideas and collaboration.

Student Engagement

Host AI activities with a faith-based focus, encouraging students to collaboratively utilize and develop innovative AI solutions that align with Christian values. Focus on fostering creativity, teamwork, and ethical considerations in AI development and usage.

Faculty and Staff Education

Provide programs for faculty and staff, offering seminars and resources that delve into the ethical dimensions of AI in a faith-based context. Focus on equipping educators with the knowledge and tools to infuse AI ethics into various disciplines, ensuring a holistic integration of faith and technology.

Community Engagement

Facilitate discussions, seminars and conferences on the intersection of faith and technology, involving the broader Christian community in shaping the discourse. Engage in outreach programs to educate local churches and communities about AI and its implications.

Research and Development

Conduct research in faith-contextualized AI applications and data, exploring innovative solutions for the Christian community and society at large. Publish findings in academic journals and collaborate with other institutions on cutting-edge projects.

Project Support

Provide research, funding and support for internal AI projects that advance the mission of Biola University, its students, staff, faculty and alumni. Provide funding, mentorship and resources for promising external projects.

Collaboration and Partnerships

Establish collaborations with churches, Christian organizations, and industry partners to ensure a comprehensive and impactful approach to AI in the faith context. Foster partnerships that promote ethical AI practices and align with Christian missions.

Coordination

The AI Lab will act as a resource and central coordination hub for AI projects being conducted across the university. When possible, this will allow constituents with similar interests in pursuing activities to be connected with each other.
