Composition
Bring your music to life.
The composition program at Biola's Conservatory of Music is one of the strongest in the nation. As a composition student, you’ll have the opportunity to compose, arrange, perform and record your own music in close proximity to Los Angeles, one of the largest cultural centers in the world. During your time at Biola you will compose nine concert works under the guidance of skilled faculty, including pieces for string quartet, full orchestra, choir, piano and other ensembles. You will be given the opportunity to have your works performed and recorded live by professional soloists and chamber ensembles.
In addition to these opportunities, you will have works performed by the Biola Symphony Orchestra and assorted student ensembles, and will also have the chance to collaborate with students in Biola’s School of Cinema and Media Arts scoring music for their movie projects. You will also participate in three composition competitions, which will give you valuable feedback from qualified professionals. Composition students will join a talented studio of 15-20 other composition majors, offering you a vibrant student community in which to learn and thrive.
